The nail. Such an insignificant object that it seems absurd to dedicate an entire exhibition to it. And yet, beyond its utilitarian role, it contains rich layers of meaning : crucifixion nails, African nail fetish figures, studded jackets, piercings, popular expressions, and more. A stone’s throw from the lake, in the leafy setting of a Mediterranean-style garden, the Musée Romain contains the remains of a rich ancient residence and, in its permanent exhibition, presents the archaeological material discovered at the Lousonna site.
Every year, temporary exhibitions offer a renewed and occasionally quirky look at archaeology and the past, Roman or otherwise.
Guided tours, workshops for classes and events also help to bring Antiquity to life, offering a journey through time.
A short walk from the museum, the archaeological trail offers the ideal complement to the museum visit for those wishing to discover the ruins of the ancient town centre, the forum.
