Naturéum - Palais de Rumine 6
Spécimens 24
What role do science and history museums play today? What is the raison d'être of scientific collections, both old and new? How do we choose what to preserve for future generations?
Spécimens 24 is the first exhibition led by the Naturéum, in partnership with the Musée cantonal d'archéologie et d'histoire and in collaboration with the Plateforme 10 museums.
It showcases scientific collections and questions the place and role of these museums in the face of the challenges facing our society, through the three fundamental missions of these institutions: to remember, to study and to pass on. These three missions are addressed by exploring several themes that cut across the collections: the history of science, the diversity of nature and the Anthropocene at the Palais de Rumine, and peatlands at the Cantonal Botanical Garden in Lausanne.
